Description
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death worldwide. The two major histological subtypes are non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC, ~85%) and small cell lung cancer (SCLC, ~15%). NSCLC subtypes include lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) and lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC). The TRACERx study established ctDNA-based phylogenetic tracking as a method for monitoring subclonal evolution in NSCLC. LUAD is driven by mutations in EGFR, KRAS, and other oncogenes; LUSC is more strongly associated with smoking and APOBEC mutagenesis.
