Description

Imatinib (Gleevec) is a BCR-ABL tyrosine kinase inhibitor that revolutionized the treatment of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). It is the canonical example of targeted cancer therapy and a model system for studying the evolutionary dynamics of therapy resistance — resistant clones harboring BCR-ABL kinase domain mutations pre-exist or emerge under selective pressure, driving relapse.
