EGFR
Type
Gene (protein-coding, receptor tyrosine kinase)
Description
EGFR (Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor) encodes a transmembrane receptor tyrosine kinase that regulates cell proliferation, survival, and differentiation. Activating mutations and amplifications in EGFR are driver events in non-small cell lung cancer (particularly adenocarcinoma) and other cancers. EGFR mutation status is a key biomarker for tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) therapy selection and is frequently monitored via ctDNA for treatment response and resistance emergence.
